Who can take part

  • You must be of African descent.
  • Your weight must be in a healthy range (BMI 18.5–24.9) or you must have overweight/obesity (BMI 28 or higher).
  • Your iron stores must be low to moderate (ferritin level 50 or lower).
  • You cannot regularly take anti-inflammatory medication.
  • You cannot be pregnant or planning pregnancy in the next 2 years.
