Who can take part
- Be between 20 and 80 years old
- Have a planned surgery to remove a mediastinal tumor using a video camera and small incisions
- Be classified as ASA II (mild overall disease) or III (severe overall disease but not bedridden)
- Not have moderate to severe COPD (a lung disease that blocks airflow)
- Have good lung function tests (DLCO of 80% or more of predicted)
- No history of a collapsed lung (pneumothorax) or air pockets (bullae or blebs) on scans
- Able to read and understand the study information and consent form
