- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 30.
- You have a low risk for surgery complications (American Society of Anesthesiologists grade I or II).
- You do not have certain heart, lung, liver, or kidney problems, or a nervous system condition like a recent stroke or Alzheimer's disease.
- You are not pregnant, and you do not have severe injuries to your chest, belly, or brain.
- Your veins and arteries must be clearly visible on ultrasound (no clots or unusual anatomy).
