PLD vs. observation for advanced soft tissue sarcoma

This trial tests whether a type of chemotherapy called pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) can help keep advanced soft tissue sarcoma from growing after successful first treatment with standard anthracycline-based chemo. You may be eligible if you've completed 4-8 cycles of that initial chemo and your disease is controlled (shrank or stable).

Who can take part

  • You have advanced soft tissue sarcoma (certain rare subtypes are not included).
  • You finished 4 to 8 cycles of your first chemotherapy (anthracycline type).
  • Your best response to that chemo was complete or partial shrinking, or stable disease.
  • You start the trial within 8 weeks of your last chemo dose.
  • You are 18 or older and have good physical function (ECOG 0 or 1).
  • Your organs are working well (heart, liver, kidneys, blood counts).
