Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You need a nasogastric tube placed as part of your care.
  • You are currently in the hospital.
  • You do not have any chest wound affecting the xiphoid process (the bottom tip of your breastbone).
  • You have not had your stomach surgically removed, do not have a stomach tumor, and do not have a head or neck tumor.
  • You are not critically ill, have a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 8 or higher, and do not have unstable blood pressure or active bleeding in the upper digestive tract.
