Who can take part
- You are 50 years or older
- You have pain in your shoulders, upper arms, hips, or thighs (called proximal pain)
- You have not taken any corticosteroids (like prednisolone) by mouth, injection, or IV in the last 2 months
- You have not been treated for PMR or giant cell arteritis with prednisolone before
- Your proximal pain started less than one year ago
- You do not have symptoms of giant cell arteritis (new headache, scalp tenderness, vision changes, or jaw pain when chewing)
