NMN supplement before heart bypass surgery

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for a planned (not emergency) heart bypass surgery that uses a heart-lung machine.
  • You have at least one of these risk factors: age 65 or older, kidney function below a certain level, heart failure or weak heart pump, diabetes with kidney issues, hardening of arteries in the legs, anemia (low red blood cells), or a prior heart surgery.
  • You do not have severe liver or kidney problems, or severe anemia before the study starts.
  • You have not had weight loss surgery or a condition that affects nutrient absorption.
  • You are not currently taking high-dose niacin or other forms of vitamin B3 supplements.
  • You are willing to use birth control if you or your partner could become pregnant.
