Who can take part
- You are 65 years or older
- You are scheduled for minimally invasive (keyhole or robotic) surgery for stomach or bowel cancer
- Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 30
- You do not have chronic pain or regularly take strong painkillers like opioids or NSAIDs
- You do not have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners that affect clotting
- You have no memory or thinking problems (such as dementia), and no recent stroke
