Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 90 years old.
  • You are scheduled for elective (not emergency) laparoscopic or robotic colon or rectal surgery.
  • You have an ASA physical status of I, II, or III (generally healthy to moderate health concerns).
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder, infection at the injection site, or allergy to numbing medicines.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or less.
  • You are not currently taking strong pain medicines (opioids) for chronic pain.
