Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 89 years old.
  • You are scheduled for a minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic or robotic) for cancer of the liver, stomach, bile duct, pancreas, uterus/ovaries, colon/rectum, or another part of the digestive system.
  • Your surgery is expected to last between 1 and 8 hours.
  • You do not have chronic pain or take strong pain medicines (like opioids) regularly.
  • You are not pregnant, and you can understand English and report your own pain level.
