Who can take part

  • Have a diagnosis of bipolar depression (currently in a depressed episode)
  • Be right-handed and have completed at least 9 years of school
  • Not be currently taking psychiatric medication, or be willing to stop medication for 2 weeks before starting the study
  • Have no metal or electronic devices in your body (like a pacemaker or cochlear implant)
  • Never have had brain stimulation treatments like electroconvulsive therapy or transcranial magnetic stimulation
