  • You are 18 or older
  • You have an active infection in your hip, knee, or shoulder joint replacement (like pain, fever, or drainage)
  • Your doctor plans to remove the infected joint and place a temporary antibiotic spacer
  • You are willing to come for follow-up visits over 6 months after surgery
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You do not have a severely compromised immune system
