  • You must be 21 years or older.
  • You can be male or female.
  • You must be scheduled for elective open heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine.
  • You cannot have chronic kidney disease.
  • You cannot have any kidney disease or abnormal kidney structure.
  • You cannot be on dialysis or other kidney replacement therapy.
