Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You had a stroke caused by a blockage in one of the large blood vessels in your brain (this is called an ischemic stroke).
  • Your stroke symptoms started less than 12 hours before you arrived at the hospital.
  • Your stroke severity score (NIHSS) is between 4 and 20 at the time of enrollment.
  • You have not had a previous stroke, and you do not currently use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea.
  • You do not have serious medical conditions such as heart failure, severe lung disease, or dementia.
