MRI to check BTVA and nodule ablation results

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a lung nodule that was found on a CT scan, diagnosed as cancer, and will be treated with ablation (radiofrequency, microwave, or freezing).
  • OR you have COPD (diagnosed using standard guidelines) and will be treated with thermal steam ablation for COPD.
  • You are willing to sign a consent form to take part in the study.
  • You do not have a pure ground glass nodule on CT (if you have a nodule).
  • You can safely have an MRI—meaning no metal implants (like pacemakers, stents, or artificial heart valves), no claustrophobia, and no allergy to MRI contrast dye.
  • You do not have severe heart or lung problems that would make ablation surgery too risky.
  • You have not had a severe COPD flare-up or pneumonia in the last 4 weeks.
