Testing a new epilepsy medicine for safety in healthy people and patients

Who can take part

  • You can be a healthy adult 18 to 55 years old, or an adult with epilepsy 18 to 70 years old.
  • If you have epilepsy, you must have at least 4 motor seizures (like convulsions) every 4 weeks, even while taking 1 to 3 seizure medicines.
  • Your seizure medicines must have been the same for at least 8 weeks before the study starts.
  • You must be in good overall health, with no serious medical conditions, and have normal liver, kidney, and heart function.
  • You must agree to use effective birth control if you are of childbearing age.
  • You cannot have had a seizure emergency (status epilepticus) in the last 2 years, or have recent suicidal thoughts.
