Who can take part

  • You are 50 years old or older.
  • You have been newly diagnosed with giant cell arteritis (GCA) and an ultrasound showed a 'halo' sign on your temporal artery.
  • You have not yet started any steroid treatment for GCA.
  • You have not had a temporal artery biopsy before.
  • You do not have other types of blood vessel inflammation or certain infections (like syphilis or tuberculosis).
