Who can take part

  • You have type 2 diabetes (as diagnosed by the Chinese guidelines).
  • You are in the hospital and using an insulin pump to control your blood sugar for at least 6 days but less than 30 days.
  • You are not taking any diabetes pills or other insulin injections while in the hospital.
  • You do not have a severe infection, diabetic coma, or other serious health problems that could be unsafe.
  • You are under 75 years old (unless your doctor thinks intensive insulin therapy is still okay for you).
  • You have healthy liver and kidney function (your doctor will check).
