  • Born between 22 and 27 weeks of pregnancy
  • Weigh at least 400 grams (about the size of a can of soda)
  • On a specific type of breathing machine within 3 days of birth
  • Between 6 hours and 7 days old
  • Have received surfactant (medicine to help lungs open)
  • Parent or guardian must agree to the study
