Who can take part
- You are 18 years old or older
- You came to the emergency department with signs of a serious skin infection (redness, swelling, pain, or gas under the skin)
- You had a fever or high white blood cell count when you arrived
- You had surgery to remove infected tissue
- You are not pregnant and not currently in prison
- You do not have bacteria in your blood at the time of admission and can give consent yourself
