Who can take part

  • You need to have a medical reason for getting an arterial line (a tube in your artery to watch blood pressure because of bleeding).
  • You must not have heart or blood vessel disease (like coronary artery disease, heart failure, or stroke).
  • You must not have a history of stroke or other brain blood vessel conditions.
  • You must not have kidney disease.
  • You must not have Marfan syndrome (a condition that affects connective tissue).
  • You must not be pregnant.
