Imagining movements to help chronic low back pain

This trial tests whether imagining movements (motor imagery) can help improve daily function and reduce pain in people with chronic low back pain. You will participate in a rehabilitation program, and if you are in the motor imagery group, you will also practice mentally rehearsing specific movements.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have had low back pain for more than 6 months.
  • Your doctor says you are a good fit for a rehabilitation program that includes exercise, education, and therapy.
  • You do not have back surgery scheduled within the next year.
  • You do not have poorly controlled epilepsy.
  • You have not already completed a similar rehabilitation program in a specialized center.
