- You are 18 years or older
- You are admitted to cardiology as an emergency for chest pain without ST elevation on your ECG
- Your doctor plans to do a heart catheterization within 72 hours of admission
- You have not had a heart catheterization yet for this episode
- Your troponin level is above 27 ng/L (a sign of heart muscle injury)
- You have a new wall motion abnormality on an echocardiogram or new ECG changes without ST elevation
