Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are about to start treatment with capecitabine and oxaliplatin as part of your standard cancer care.
  • Your doctor has confirmed you are healthy enough for this treatment.
  • You are able to understand the study and sign a consent form.
  • You do not have a known DPYD gene variant that affects how your body processes capecitabine.
  • You have not had prior treatment with fluoropyrimidines (a class of chemotherapy that includes capecitabine).
  • You do not have a condition that affects stomach absorption, like gastric bypass or complete stomach removal (but having an esophagectomy is okay).
  • You are not using DPD inhibitors or allopurinol.
  • You are not pregnant at the start of the study.
