Who can take part
- You have a newly diagnosed type of mouth cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) that has not spread to the other side of your neck or to distant organs.
- You are healthy enough for surgery (ECOG performance status 0-2).
- You are at least 18 years old and agree to use birth control if needed.
- Your planned treatment includes surgery to remove the tumor and lymph nodes on the same side of your neck, plus a special scan-guided lymph node biopsy.
- You have not had prior radiation to the neck area that would overlap with this study's radiation.
- You have not had prior neck surgery or injury that would prevent the lymph node removal needed for this trial.
