Who can take part

  • Children aged 1 month to 16 years
  • Diagnosed with septic shock and currently receiving fluids in the PICU
  • No known heart disease (acquired or from birth)
  • No known kidney disease (acquired or from birth)
  • No vascular problems like abnormal blood vessel connections or aneurysms
  • No suspected high pressure in the brain (intracranial hypertension)
  • No skin wounds or bandages where the ultrasound or echocardiography will be done
  • No neck structural abnormalities
