Who can take part

  • You must be 40 years or older
  • You must have a prior COPD diagnosis
  • You must be admitted to the hospital for a sudden worsening of COPD symptoms
  • You cannot have an active lung infection like tuberculosis or a fungal infection
  • You cannot have other chronic lung diseases like asthma, interstitial lung disease, or lung cancer
  • You must not be using steroids for reasons other than a COPD flare-up
