Better options for lymphatic filariasis treatment

This study tests two different 3-drug combinations to treat lymphatic filariasis (a parasitic infection that can cause swelling and discomfort). If you live in a participating village, you will get one of these treatments and be monitored for how well it works.

Who can take part

  • You live in one of the study locations (a specific village or community).
  • You are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to be in the study.
  • You do not have a severe illness that keeps you from doing your daily activities.
  • You are not allergic to any of the study medicines (ivermectin, moxidectin, diethylcarbamazine, albendazole).
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding a baby less than 7 days old.
  • You meet the age or weight requirements for the treatment assigned to your village (at least 4 years old for one option; at least 2 years old and 15 kg for the other).
