Who can take part

  • You have an osteochondral defect (a piece of bone and cartilage loose in the ankle joint) in your talus bone, confirmed by MRI.
  • You are planning to have arthroscopic surgery that uses microfracture (tiny holes) and a biological scaffold to repair the defect.
  • You do not have any foot or ankle deformities (like flat feet or a high arch).
  • You do not have any other orthopedic or nerve-related condition that could affect your walking (such as arthritis or Parkinson's).
  • You have not had any prior surgery on your foot or ankle.
