  • You are an adult (18 years or older).
  • You need coronary bypass surgery (not valve or other heart surgery).
  • This is your first heart surgery.
  • Your heart's pumping strength (ejection fraction) is 30% or higher.
  • You are not in kidney failure (GFR of 40 or above).
  • You do not have severe obesity (BMI over 40).
