Who can take part
- You are having planned (elective) heart surgery
- Your surgical risk score (EuroSCORE II) is under 9%
- Your planned operation is one of these: valve surgery, coronary bypass, or specific aorta surgery, done through a full or mini chest incision
- Your heart pumping strength before surgery is at least 40% (LVEF ≥ 40%)
- Your kidney function is adequate (eGFR is 40 or higher) and you are not on dialysis
- You can sign informed consent
