Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You are having a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (a type of weight-loss surgery done through small cuts)
- Your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or higher
- You are in generally good health (classified as ASA II or III)
- You have not had major abdominal surgery before
- You are not allergic to local anesthetics (numbing medicines)
- You do not have severe liver or kidney disease
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
