Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC)Locally Advanced Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

This trial uses a new imaging agent called [18F]-AraG to see how well it can show head and neck cancers before and after standard radiation therapy. If you have advanced cancer of the throat or voice box that can't be surgically removed, this scan may help doctors understand your cancer better.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have advanced cancer in your larynx, hypopharynx, or HPV-negative oropharynx that is stage III or IV and cannot be surgically removed.
  • You are scheduled to receive standard treatment with 7 weeks of daily radiation and weekly cisplatin chemotherapy.
  • You have a good overall health status (able to carry out daily activities with some help).
  • You are willing and able to have two PET scans—one before and one after your treatment.
