ZIPPER stent-graft trial for aortic arch dissection

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have a tear in the upper part of the aorta (aortic arch) that is subacute (2 weeks to 3 months) or chronic (over 3 months) and needs treatment.
  • The landing zone for the device in your ascending aorta must be at least 40 mm long, and the diameter must be between 24 and 47 mm.
  • The openings to the main arteries in your neck and arms (innominate, left common carotid, left subclavian) must be between 6 and 24 mm wide and at least 20 mm long.
  • You are considered high risk for traditional open heart surgery by two independent surgeons.
  • You do not have certain other serious medical conditions like active infection, recent heart attack or stroke, severe kidney or liver problems, or connective tissue disorders like Marfan syndrome.
