  • You have pain and tenderness in the middle of your Achilles tendon (not at the heel) for at least 3 months.
  • Your pain is worse when you are active or exercise.
  • You have not had a corticosteroid injection in your Achilles tendon in the last month.
  • You have not had surgery or a broken bone in your leg or foot on the same side in the past year.
  • You have not done specific calf-lowering exercises (eccentric exercises) for this problem before.
