Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have achalasia type I or II (a swallowing problem).
  • You are scheduled for laparoscopic Heller-Dor surgery (a keyhole stomach surgery).
  • You have not had any previous treatments for achalasia (like botox injections or dilation).
  • You have no allergies to dyes like indocyanine green, barium, or gastrografin.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is below 30.
