Who can take part

  • You or your child are having surgery and need a breathing tube (endotracheal tube) during the operation.
  • The parents or legal guardian have signed a consent form. If the child is old enough to understand, they will also be asked if they agree.
  • The patient is generally healthy (ASA physical status I) or has a mild medical condition that does not limit daily activities (ASA II).
  • No serious lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis, severe asthma, or conditions that affect breathing muscles.
  • No complex heart problems, severe unstable blood pressure, or recent chest surgeries or conditions like a collapsed lung.
