Who can take part

  • You are 21 years or older
  • You have osteoarthritis and are scheduled for a first-time total knee replacement on one knee
  • You are not taking strong daily opioids (like morphine or oxycodone) in the month before surgery
  • You do not have a serious heart condition, an implanted device (like a pacemaker), or uncontrolled diabetes
  • You are willing to follow the study procedures and attend follow-up visits for up to 45 days
