This trial tests whether giving remdesivir to kidney transplant patients who test positive for COVID-19 can prevent them from getting severely ill. It is for people who have already had at least three COVID-19 vaccine doses and are scheduled to receive a kidney transplant soon.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are on the kidney transplant waiting list and have a compatible organ offer, with the transplant happening within 1 to 5 days.
  • You tested positive for COVID-19 (via a nasal swab) within the last 5 days.
  • You have had at least three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, and it has been at least 3 months since your last dose.
  • You have no or only mild COVID-19 symptoms (like headache, sore throat, cough, or fatigue), but no fever above 38°C or shortness of breath in the last 48 hours.
  • If you are a woman able to have children, you agree to avoid pregnancy during the study.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You do not need extra oxygen or have severe lung disease.
  • You do not have a known allergy to remdesivir.
  • You have not had an ABO-incompatible kidney transplant or certain other transplant treatments.
