  • You are between 18 and 90 years old.
  • You have a tracheostomy tube that has been in place for at least 48 hours.
  • You are not currently on a breathing machine (ventilator).
  • You are alert and able to cooperate (no severe confusion or agitation).
  • You have not had major neck or upper airway surgery in the last 48 hours.
