  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You are scheduled for weight-loss surgery done through small cuts (laparoscopic)
  • You are generally healthy or have mild health problems (ASA class I to III)
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 30 and 55
  • You have not smoked or had chest surgery before, and do not have serious heart or lung disease
