Who can take part

  • You are 22 to 75 years old
  • You have had severe opioid use disorder for at least 5 years, and have tried at least 3 treatments (including one medication like buprenorphine) without long-term success
  • You are willing to start or switch to buprenorphine for the study
  • You have a stable home and a family member or friend who can help you stick to the study schedule
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and will use effective birth control if applicable
  • You do not have certain medical conditions that make surgery or MRI risky (like bleeding disorders, pacemakers, or metal in your body)
