Spinal cord stimulation for chronic low back pain

Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP)

This trial tests a special type of spinal cord stimulation (called BurstDR) in people with chronic low back pain. If you already have a spinal cord stimulator and it helps your pain, researchers want to see if adding muscle stimulation can provide even more relief.

Who can take part

  • You must have had a spinal cord stimulator for at least 6 months and get more than 50% pain relief from it.
  • Your back pain should be your main problem, not leg pain.
  • You must have had back pain for a while with a score of 6 or more on a 0-10 pain scale before getting your stimulator.
  • You cannot have a clear surgical cause for your pain (like a herniated disk that needs surgery).
  • You cannot take more than 50 mg of morphine (or equivalent) per day, or use steroid medications regularly.
