Antibiotics after kidney injury to prevent infections

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You had acute kidney injury (sudden kidney trouble) during your hospital stay.
  • You are being discharged to home or a rehab center where follow-up is possible.
  • You are able to understand and agree to the study.
  • You are not allergic to sulfa drugs or TMP/SMX.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and do not have severe liver disease or very low blood counts.
