Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 70 years old
- This is your first kidney transplant
- Your kidney function has stabilized with creatinine clearance greater than 30 mL/min (a measure of how well your new kidney is working)
- You do not have HIV infection
- You are not allergic to TMP-SMX (an antibiotic also called Bactrim or Septra)
- You can attend regular follow-up visits and take medication as instructed
