Barostim device for heart failure treatment

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have heart failure with symptoms that make you short of breath with activity (NYHA Class II or III) and your heart's pumping ability (ejection fraction) is less than 50%.
  • You either have high levels of heart failure markers (NT-proBNP or BNP) in your blood, or you've had a worsening heart failure event in the last 6 months.
  • You are on stable doses of recommended heart failure medications for at least 4 weeks.
  • You can walk between 100 and 450 meters (about 1 to 4 football fields) in 6 minutes.
  • You do not have advanced heart failure, severe kidney disease, or other conditions that would make the procedure unsafe.
