Who can take part
- You had abdominal surgery and stayed in the hospital for more than 24 hours after surgery.
- You are considered fit for surgery (ASA score 1 to 4). A doctor can tell you your score.
- You have sepsis, which means you have a serious infection with signs such as fast breathing, confusion, or low blood pressure (qSOFA score of 2 or more).
- You do not have kidney failure, liver failure, or severe metabolic acidosis (too much acid in the blood).
- You are not pregnant, do not have a single kidney, and have not been poisoned.
