Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a planned (not emergency) surgery to replace or repair your mitral or aortic valve.
  • You are having surgery on only one heart valve, with no other heart procedures at the same time.
  • Your heart's pumping strength (ejection fraction) is above 30%.
  • You do not have severe pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs).
  • You do not have an active infection or sepsis.
  • You agree to take part in the study and sign a consent form.
