Who can take part

  • You have a surgically placed aortic valve that is now failing (narrowing or leaking).
  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • Your risk of death from surgery is less than 8% (low to intermediate risk).
  • Your heart team thinks both options (replacing the valve again or doing a valve-in-valve procedure) are reasonable for you.
  • You do not have an active infection in your heart valve, and you do not need other heart valve surgery at the same time.
