- You are 18 to 75 years old.
- You have a confirmed diagnosis of lupus that is active (with a score of 8 or higher on a lupus activity scale, or certain severe symptoms).

- Your major organs (like bone marrow, liver, kidneys, heart) are working well enough as shown by recent blood tests and medical exams.
- You are not pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, and you agree to use birth control during the study and for 6 months after.
